Our Japanese Patterns Upcycled Teak Wood coasters each come with an individual pattern. Our makers obtain offcut wood from furniture factories and give these beautiful hardwoods an extra purpose.

The patterns on the coasters are inspired by traditional Japanese designs, each with a different meaning:

• Wave Crest (Seigaiha) – rows of ocean waves in a fan-shaped pattern, symbolising the desire for continued peaceful living, like tranquil waves.
• Hemp Leaf (Asanoha) – symbolises adulthood, growth and children's health, as hemp is durable and grows quickly.
• Fletching (Yagasuri) – based on arrow fletching; a lucky charm for weddings and ceremonies, from the Japanese saying that once an arrow is fired, it never returns.
• Seven Treasures (Shippo) – represents the unending chain of harmony and peace.

Each coaster is carefully laser cut from 5mm-thick teak wood and hand-sanded to a smooth finish, then given a coating of oil and wax for protection and a beautiful finish.

Care

Wipe clean with a damp cloth and re-oil occasionally to keep the wood looking its best. Avoid soaking.
